Blobade is an .io battle royale game that offers a rather interesting approach: instead of starting a match with a powerful character or a readily available arsenal, you appear in the arena with just a small blob and almost nothing in your hands. What helps you change your position is food, chests scattered across the map, and opportunities to take down opponents.
The first thing you should do when you walk into the arena is not to look for the toughest opponent to fight. Blobs are rather fragile at the beginning, so collecting food and opening chests will assist you to create a safer base.
Chests with food are very important supplies in the beginning. Gather them to level up your blob, get health, grow in size and score points. As you get bigger you start to have more strategic options.
You can continue to find resources to strengthen your position, or observe other blobs and choose a suitable target.
This is also where the Blobade starts to make interesting decisions. A bigger glob isn’t always an easy target. The other player might be waiting for you to come near enough to unleash a dash. In contrast, an opponent with little health could be a good opportunity to gain an advantage.
In other words, size only gives you part of the power. Your ability to read the situation is what determines whether you turn that advantage into victory.

Food chests may seem harmless, but they quickly become crucial points of contention.
When you spot a chest, you're not the only one who can see it. Another player might be approaching from the opposite direction. Rushing in too quickly risks making yourself prey right where you should be growing.
So, observe the surrounding area before approaching a chest. If there are no signs of danger, collect it quickly and move on. If you spot a strong opponent nearby, sometimes skipping a portion of the food is a smarter choice.
This is one of the reasons Blobade isn't simply a "eat as much as possible" game. Resources are valuable, but location and timing are equally important.
Blobade's combat is built around two main attack methods: slash and charged dash.
Left-click to slash at nearby opponent blobs.
This is the most direct and suitable attack when you're close to your target. However, if you are close by, the opponent may counter-attack, so do not slash about.
Hold down the left mouse button to power up your dash, then let go of the mouse to send the blob flying forward.
Charged dash is more versatile than a normal attack. You can use it to ambush your enemy, to kill a weak target or to get out of a perilous position fast.
It’s all about time.
If you hold it too long, your opponent may see what you are trying to do. If you let go too early, the dash can miss its intended spot. So, instead of just aiming at the spot your opponent is at, try and read their movement direction.
A couple more Blobade games later and I really enjoyed the feeling of gradually getting stronger and more confident in hunting opponents. The gameplay is easy, the matches are quick and every playthrough is a new circumstance. Blobade is a simple.io game to play for fun if you’re in the mood.
