Zombies appear from multiple directions, the sounds of attack are relentless, and the space to move is increasingly limited. In Zombie Arena, City Hero temporarily leaves the streets of Vice Town to throw you into a direct survival battle. Players assault with each wave of enemies, maintaining their distance especially when the robot boss emerges and makes the contest an even more difficult struggle.
The cool thing about this mode is that it’s at a different speed than outside the city missions. Rather of looking for targets, you need to control the environment around you and cope with waves of zombies that become progressively hazardous. So being able to run fast, jump and wield weapons is all useful.
Surviving for longer periods also opens up opportunities to receive rewards. This type of challenge is suitable when you want to focus entirely on combat skills instead of spending time exploring the map.
Besides physical strength, the character can also use a variety of weapons. Blasters work well for attacking at a distance, whereas melee weapons are best used in close range engagements.
When you have a few foes at the same time the choice of weapon is more crucial. You can mix mobility, jumping and repositioning to escape being encircled instead of just standing still and attacking.
After intense survival battles, the city opens up a more free-form gameplay experience. Vice Town features streets, high-rise buildings, rooftops, and areas to explore. You don't necessarily have to stick to the ground when moving.
Grafting devices are a signature tool here. When standing on a rooftop, you can use them to bridge the gaps between buildings and continue your journey at different heights. This movement method also provides more options when approaching areas with gangsters.
Gang encounters form the core of the city's missions. What seems like an exploration trip can quickly turn into combat when you enter dangerous areas.
These interweavings make Vise Town a place in perpetual flux. Instead of always going straight, you can run across a street, climb on a rooftop, discover a diversion and then go down to take out an objective.
City Hero’s controls are based on simple but well-distributed actions:
Outfits and gear can be unlocked during gameplay, creating additional objectives alongside missions and survival battles.
From a zombie-infested arena to the rooftops of Vice Town, City Hero constantly shifts between combat, movement, and exploration to create a multi-faceted superhero journey.
