Shape Rush

Shape Rush is a rhythm arcade game where you control a self-moving block, that needs to avoid obstacles to the beat of uplifting electronic music. The game involves fast reflexes, the ability to memorise the route and to know the exact moment to beat difficult stages.

Six Levels, Six Songs, Six Challenging Levels In Shape Rush

Shape Rush has a total of six levels. The first levels are easy, designed to help you get used to the controls. As you progress, the speed increases, the gaps between obstacles narrow, and the traps appear more frequently.

Each level has its own music, and consequently, its own tempo. You can't simply apply the gameplay of level 1 to level 5 – you have to learn the new rhythm each time you enter a new song.

And if you think you're done with all six levels, you're not. Completing a level 100% – that is, without a single collision from beginning to end – is a completely different challenge. That's also what keeps players coming back, time and time again, just to break their own record.

Transformation Gates

If it were just jumping back and forth, Shape Rush would probably be boring by the third level. But the game has a mechanism that keeps things fresh: the transformation gate system.

Throughout the journey, your character will pass through special transformation gates, each transforming you into a different shape with completely different controls:

  • Cube: the most basic form. You just need to jump at the right time to overcome spikes, pits, and stationary obstacles.
  • Ship: hold the button to fly up, release to descend. The problem is not the jumping but holding a steady height all the way through the trip.
  • Ball: all taps touch gravity. The direction of movement changes instantaneously, requiring very quick reflexes and adaptation.
